Cairns Festival
Join us for one of the highlights of the Cairns event calendar, the Cairns Festival or more affectionately known as, "Fun in the Sun". Founded by the Cairns Regional Council on 26 May, 1961 the highlight of the event was the grand opening of a new jetty on Green Island. This was the same time that the first annual Cairns Tourist Festival was established. Just last year (2012) Cairns city and the surrounding region turned out in force to celebrate our 51st year of annual festival celebrations with our reflective golden anniversary program, Fun in the Sun.
